Dual Kicker L7's Vented Subwoofer / Kicker ZX1000.1 Amp?

9 years 3 weeks ago #1 by GuebraAreve
Hey guys, I'm currently looking into buying my first sub woofer / sound system for my first car. I'm going to need information about batteries/caps/ohms and other items to improve sound quality and other useful information would be greatly appreciated. I'm using this system mainly for listening to Rap/Hip hop. Also note money is not an issue for me. Let me know if this Sub/Amp is compatible with each other IE : Ohms Freq ect.

I'm currently looking at the Kicker DS12L72 (2OHMS) - (Dual 12" Vented Sub Enclosure with 2 Solo-Baric L7 S12L7 Sub-woofers)
The Amp i'm currently looking at for the dual l7's is the 1000W RMS, Class D Monoblock ZX Series Amplifier (ZX10001) By Kicker

Also what headunit would be perfect for this. Note : Currently vehicle is a 2007 Honda Civic SI

If money isn't an issue, I would probably be looking at something that wasn't kicker and wasn't prefab.

However, if those are the subs you really want, I would be looking at a larger amp. Something around 1500-2000wrms.

If a member posts money is no object then u have to get the right info from us, right?.As dylan said, bigger ,better amp
Better is having a variable EQ >0-18db variable, but you need to be able to set it at 20hz- 80hz or whatever your system needs the extra boost.<<<< This is a great tool to have, trust me.
Also a amp with 12/24 db crossovers is handy.

It also appears as though the sub sonic filter is set to 24db @25hz which most likely means its just a on/off switch.
You need a variable subsonic filter 20hz-40hz which means you can fine tine the bottom end of your sub sounds.
Bigger amp means better upgrade possibilities in the future.
I believe a money no object "street credit" subwoofer system starts at 2000wrms in any wiring config you care to choose.
cheers and keep posting :)

if youre on a budget then the zx1000 and a pair of kicker compvr 12 in the prefab box would be more suitable, a pair of l7 need a lot more than the zx1000 will deliver
